Opened in 1998, the new Chemistry Building houses the most technologically sophisticated classrooms and chemistry laboratories available on any university campus. An impressive research and learning center, it reflects the architectural style of classic New England mills. The 2000 International Architecture Yearbook listed this innovative project as one of the best-designed buildings in the world. In 2001, the chemistry building received the Best Buildings in the Northeast Award from the New England Regional Council of the American Institute of Architects.
