Coined "Connecticut's future" by Governor Rowland, the Health Center's 11-story Academic Research Building includes 128 laboratory modules fortifying the University's leadership in biomedical innovation, with facilities to pursue research in the fields of neuroscience, molecular biology, and cancer. Not only has this impressive facility enabled the Health Center to attract top researchers who are pioneering new discoveries, it has also helped fuel revenue. The amount of research grant funding awarded to Health Center scientists in 2001 increased by over $10 million compared to the prior year.
