Membership should include senate, graduate faculty council, admissions, undergrad provost, grad provost, Multicultural Affairs, faculty, students, and should also include representatives of the regional campuses and continuing education.

Action Item 2.2a: Create an Office of Enrollment Management to coordinate student recruitment, enrollment, retention and graduation....

Consolidate undergraduate admissions and financial aid into a single Office reporting to the Provost. Appoint a director who will develop coordination links to the schools (including the BGS program), student affairs and finance and administration, and the regional campuses, and who will assure that need-blind admissions is not compromised. The Office would be charged to handle all aspects of admission as well as coordinate with other offices on retention and graduation.

Expand the Husky Ambassadors program to include alumni and parents. Develop programs to extend their activities to reach out to potential students in their homes and communities.

Action Item 2.2f: Research specific markets for potential students, so that pertinent strengths can be stressed when recruiting.

Identify unique characteristics and strengths of UConn from a potential student's perspective. Identify characteristics of potential students in different markets and tailor recruiting approaches to match student characteristics to UConn strengths.

Ongoing Credit activities include a collaboration between ECE and Nursing on two advanced practice programs for post-masters degree nurses. Non-credit activities include the Executive Education collaboration between ECE and SBA. In Fairfield County, community-based planning efforts have give use to 1) CITI (see also report), including concentrations for BGS to ensure better articulation with community-technical college offerings and 2) coordination with Norwalk Community-Technical College to reduce duplication of non-credit offerings. Compressed video capability has led to a series of hi-tech programs offered in conjunction with the Institute for Material Science and the Environmental Research Institute. Labor Education Center and Allied Health have developed Occupational Safety Program. Nursing has created two advanced practice nurse certificate programs.

Ongoing Alumni Association collaboration has led to Summer University; ECE has just started Knowledge for Life; the Center for Learning in Retirement is run in affiliation with ECE for retired citizens; ECE and SBA offer pre-retirement progrms for those planning this phase of their lives.

Consideration should be given to the provision of additional merit-based scholarships as well as creative financial aid packaging for students improving their performance.
